Presented by SN partner Musica, Musimatrix is an interactive format introducing young children and families to classical or contemporary music. This latest edition, presented in Bruges and in Antwerp (BE), was developed in collaboration with new music collective Down the Rabbit Hole.
Is sound a sign of life?
Musimatrix is an interactive musical journey that tears down the walls between listening, active experience and collective performance. Young children and families are taken on a most unusual journey inside, around and through classical or contemporary composed music. A different renowned ensemble develops each new edition.
In 2022, new music collective Down The Rabbit Hole reveals the differences between life and lifelessness. Can we simply blow life into objects? How do we grow into a super organism? What can nature teach us about collaboration? With found materials, our own bodies and voices, we bloom into a resonating ecosystem.
Accompanied by experienced Musica teachers, 2000 primary school children will pass through a musical operating table, bring a Frankenstein monster to life and become the performers of a composition based on… touch. The final performance forges musicians, children and teachers together into one large breathing organism.
Musimatrix will be presented at the Concertgebouw Bruges and deSingel, Antwerp.
