Sounds Now focuses on curators as a way to promote inclusion in contemporary music and sound art. By bringing new voices and new perspectives, the project targets the wider, long-term impact of diversifying contemporary music creation and its audiences.
Project objectives include:
+ capacity building and professional development for new entrants to music curation from outside the usual contemporary music circles
+ the creation of a new network linking new and emerging curators with each other and with established curators
+ the transnational circulation of 20+ new artistic works that support the project’s diversity goals
+ the testing of innovative curating formats for audience engagement that build a musical rapport with a variety of communities
+ research into music curation and inclusion to kickstart a collective exploration of, and commitment to, inclusive actions in the sonic arts.
