In an ever more networked world many people feel increasingly disconnected from each other and their environment. This paradoxical situation is sadly not surprising, as technological developments do not necessarily evolve ‘organically’, but are often ideologically driven to benefit certain groups of people over others. And so in our petro-capitalist society technologies are predominantly driven by a “financial logic” which is disinterested in diversity, and instead seeks to reduce human complexities and idiosyncrasies into easily commodifiable behaviours. Social and cultural resources increasingly exclude and disadvantage marginalised people, whose voices and concerns are not listened to.

Listen To My World asks what is it that makes us feel included or excluded from a place or space and proposes that listening to each others’ experiences of these spaces and places could afford us a way to be more empathetic and generous towards each other and our environment. We might indeed hear that we have more in common than we are often lead to believe…
